The Bethany Bunch

October 21, 2020

President's Corner

Our Scholastic Book Fair is Virtual this year!  The theme is Time Machine and it runs for two full weeks - Friday, Oct 23rd through Thursday, Nov 5th at this link (Bethany Fall Book Fair). Because it is virtual this year, there are a few things to note:

  • All book purchases of $25 or more ship free to the parent's home.
  • Non-book purchases are charged shipping.
  • If you want to pay by cash or check, please email me at president@bethanypta.org, or call/text me at 972-900-9588 and I will let you know how to do that.
  • Teacher Wish-Lists: feel free to ask your teacher directly if there is a book they would like or donate a gently used book directly from home. Directions for sending the books to school will come in the next newsletter.
  • All purchases earn us Scholastic Dollars that will benefit the School Library and programs.

Here is the virtual Flyer: Scholastic Fall 2020 Booklist

We would love for your children to create their own time machine!

Challenge your child to draw, paint, model, or otherwise craft a time machine. Once they are done with their creations, if your child is a face to face student, bring them into the library and give to Mrs. Tomlin. Or, take a photo of the creation and email them to Mrs. Mann (chamonix.mann@pisd.edu) who will share it in the various social media platforms.

School Corner

One of the most enjoyable things about being at a school is the opportunity to meet new people and establish new friendships. This year, more than any year in the past, students and staff have been elated to interact with friends, both old and new, and continue to build those positive connections in our lives. It has been wonderful having students back on campus. While we miss the physical presence of our friends continuing in the Plano @home virtual school, having the chance to reconnect with them, even virtually, has been a great blessing both for the staff and students.

While building friendships is a highlight for students and staff alike, one of the harder parts of school is saying goodbye to those whose path take them to new experiences in different locations. We miss our friends who move to a different school or city. Many of those friendships will slowly fade away over time, but the memories of experiences shared together will linger forever. On October 30th, one of our schools greatest friends will be moving to Oklahoma for new adventures. Mrs. Alicia, we thank you for all that you have contributed during your time at Bethany and wish you nothing but the best in all that life has in store for you. Just as all the students and staff who have ever been at Bethany, you will always be part of the Bethany Bunch family.
